Down Syndrome

Trisomy 21 affects 95% of people with Down syndrome, in which each cell has three separate copies, rather than just the two, of chromosome 21.

Translocation Down syndrome affects 3% of people with Down syndrome, in which an extra part or whole extra chromosome 21 occurs but is “trans-located” to a different chromosome rather than being separate.

Mosaic Down syndrome affects about 2% of people with Down syndrome and involves a mixture of cells with two copies of chromosome 21 and cells with three copies of chromosome 21.

Our Goal

The purpose of this website is to talk about the importance of storytelling communication to people with Down syndrome. Our mission is to tell stories that connect with this particular audience, and we aim to do so by reviewing and demonstrating how to adjust our teaching and communication methods.
